I really, really, really, want to work at the black country musem

In 2008 I went on a school strip to the Black Country Living Museum and an obsession was born. The BCM is a essentially a little time travelling village. The Museum is not your average kind with "Do not touch" signs and "press here for information" buttons ( not entirely sure if the quotations work there). The BCM is a Village made up of houses primarily from the industrial revolution ( as the black country Dudley/Birmingham was at the centre of the industrial revolution) with a couple of 1940's/1950's houses strewn here and there. There's also; a sweet shop, Ye old chippy, bakery, iron mongers, an actual coal mine, fun fair, school, silent cinema, Tug boats and lots more. As you potter round you meet the residents of the village: volunteers act out what life was like back during the industrial revolution. They invite you into their homes to share information about their lives, and our history. The Museum is a hands on experience with chances to watch a silent film, have a lesson in the Victorian school and to assist with activities such as rope work and seamanship. I cannot express how epic this place is. I am history geek. I love it!

GO VISIT

I of course went armed with my camera. It was a bright day and I had forgotten my standard lens. So I had to make do with a macro. So the average setting I used was about F4/F3.5 with shutter speed anywhere between 1/1200=1/4000.

i've lost my editing software (Coral) so edited the following pics using pixlr a free on-line editing program.
The above house housed a working steam engin. hence, you know, all the steam

one of my favourite films/books ever is the railway children this is what I Imagen there house to look like

Alice In wonderland

I love Alice In wonderland!!!!!!!!!!! I've read it, watched it, and been inspired by it!! some of my very first photographs were inspired by this magical yet mad world. So please scroll down and have a look at my journey through wonderland!!!!!!!!!

so these image below are some of the first pictures I ever took with an SLR camera I must have been about 12 or 13 and I'm the first at admit there crap..
I'm not entirely sure why I created a music cover for this......I WAS 12 AND BORED OK......But that was offically my first ever Alice in Wonderland Inspired picture.
Then came the obsession with the warp brush...

I must have been about 14 when I took the above image. At the time I was dead chuffed. Peers asked me to make them edits, and it received 22 comments on Facebook. However, now when I look at it I get that cringe-worthy feeling
OH THE SHAME.
My latest Alice pictures are below. I think there's been a change in standard

Let me know what you think. Fellow lovers of Alice, Hatter, Doormouse and Hare. check out the work of Elena Kalis and Alice underwater. IT'S AMAZING

The more sinister side of Zoe

I'm sat here procrastinating,... supposedly doing some health and social care task but meh... I thought I'd share with you lovely people some more of my photography from my A level
this stuff is a bit darker and what I prefer to do.

"Never to wake" Zoetrope Photograhy 2012
These Images are taken from a shoot based upon the work of another artist, so I'm not entirely sure who it was. the theme of the shoot was very much vintage. I studied Victorian death portraitures ( where the dead were commemorated in photography) this contributed largely to the shoot. The Model Is Miss A Rose. My little sister who was bullied on many occasion to be my model!!
If I wait- Zoetrope photography- 2012
"Ring-a-ring-a-rosie" Zoetrope photography 2012
As I recall my teacher wasn't too impressed by this shoot.....She preferred happy pretty photography

Thanks for reading!! If you've enjoyed my images please leave me a little message!

a selection of my photography when it was happy

During the first term at school we did 2 projects, one based on architecture and the other on movement. Neither of these rocked my boat...I like conceptual-ism and Gothic romantic style personally. But it was a good way to get started and taught me the basic skills. the below 3 pictures are my favourites from this time.

The first Is called "all the way up". it's called this because I felt it needed a name, to make it all official like and just finished reading AFIOS...

I apologise for the red lines but if someone is going to be a gigantic arse and copy my work I'd rather make them have to spend time with the clone brush!!! If you would like to source my work that wouldbelikethemostamazingthingeverandiloveyouloads.. feel free just source it please:) I only mention this because of 2 years of researching artists!

"All the way up"- Zoetrope photography 2011- Bristol
The next image I have always lovingly called "them magic apples". This was shot on my patio with a sheet of wallpaper as a backdrop, the beautiful l September sun, and a fast shutter speed.
Them Magic apples- Zoetrope photography-2011
My Criticism of this image, is that the background should be brighter and more white, I may go back and adjust the brightness and contrast on the ol' Photoshop machine.  The third and final happy photo is "didyoutakethatzoe". I had a new photography teacher who didn't believe it was my image, a fact that pleases my little ego very much. it's official arty farty name is "Washed out"
Washed out - ZTP photograhy- 2011
I have another version of this image where the bottles have a higher saturation, it has it's own merits, but i personally prefer as it gives the image some contrast between colours.

Thanks for reading! Just to clarify my photography after this is not awful but it takes a rather  different tone...Think Gothic Alice in wonderland and red riding hood, faceless masks and ghosts that sort of thing!!!

Thanks - Let me know what you think

Time machine madness!

Don't you just love that feeling when your delving through your things; maybe cleaning up or searching for something else, and you find forgotten treasures?  Old photos that make you stop and think " Dear lord above, why did no one stop me from looking like that" Or pieces of work/art that you were really proud of but actually have the same intellectual and artistic range of a well educated 2 year old. The wave of  Self pity and embarrassment is just delightful. OHHHH THE SHAME!!!!!!!!!

This Blog is the internet equivalent, I posted twice and entirely forgot about it! for 2 years.....The one day I was trying to figure out the complexities of connecting my YouTube and gmail accounts and Woosh, click , bang! I stumble upon Zoetrope photography. (You have  no idea, NO IDEA, how long I spent trying to come up with that name! It was a form of mild mental torture).

and looking back those posts are pretty shoddy!  I stick by my opinion of Vivien Maier her photography is breath taking and is one of my favourite photographers. But my grammar, style and spelling is atrocious. I apologise profusely to the 15 people that viewed this Blog. Hopefully 3 A levels later this has improved!

I cringe at all forms of self advertisement, it's simply not within me to promote my self, which is why i'm often very self depreciating of my own photography work. So thank you to those brave 15 souls that ventured onto this neglected page over the course of 2 years!

I initially started this Blog because I planned to use photography to take over the world. Mwha mwha mwhaaaa. I was undertaking my A level photography and decided that maybe I would become the next Annie Lebovits or Irving Penn. But in the end I decided to follow nursing. I am a fickle person.

I finished my A levels last year and am now working as I systematically get rejected from Universities #Loveinglife. I've decided to return to the little fledgeling that is ZTP to try and revive my photography skills and explore something that I loved. I'm by no means and expert but that's part of the fun.

So thanks
Zoe

Just a little bragging moment- as it's just us here I got A* in my A level!!!:)
